Yves and Claude Cordelle family

00 - Historical plan and summary

We met, Yves Cordelle and Claude Rougier, in Paris in the autumn of 1953, at the meetings of the French University Mission (MUF).
This association, led by Abbé Remlinger, organized meetings of European students with the prospect of improving mutual knowledge of the peoples of Europe who had just fought hard for six years.
Claude lived with his parents in Versailles at 6 rue Hardy (School of Horticulture, where father was intendant), and followed courses in history and geography in the Sorbone faculty. She already had a free degree in history, and was preparing a certificate of geography.
I lived in Paris in my parents' apartment at 27 Avenue de Lamballe, and I was in the second and final year of the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées, rue des Saints Pères in Paris. My parents were several months a year in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where my father Jean Cordelle worked for the Société Hersent, a public works company.
During the Christmas holidays 1953, I participated with Claude in the meeting of the MUF organised in the Wagrain ski resort (page 1) It was on the return of this stay that nopus decided to be engaged, and we informed our parents immediately. My parents were in Argentina since November 23, 53 and they returned only on March 16, 1954.
We have met our respective families at the Paris (page 3), I've been to Dampierre (page 3), Claude came to Saint Laurent (page 2)I don't remember an engagement party.
Our marriage was celebrated in Dampierre on 14 August 1954 (page 4). We made a trip in Belgium and the Netherlands during the 15 days of the end of August (page 5)Before we moved to Cherbourg for a month, I had to do a short internship at the Port de Commence in Cherbourg.

Stay in Mostaganem - 1954-60 , 5 years 1/2

Stay in Algiers - 1960- 62, 2 years
I'm going to Algiers in May 60, hired at EGA, to take care of the hydroelectric development of the upper Djen Djen:
Claude and the children moved to Algiers in February, to ensure an end of pregnancy without moving (birth scheduled for early May)

Stay in Versailles - 1962- 64, 1 year 1/2

Claude left with the children in France, from mid-March 62, for fear of the violence that was growing, she set up in Jougne in a children's house for the Easter holidays, then in Dampierre, where Frédéric could continue his primary calsses.
I was able, with difficulty, to secure the move of the furniture in early July, since the OAS had ceased to prohibit any departure (threats in support). The frame remained on the docks of Le Havre before being sent to Versailles in the new apartment.
We bought this apartment quickly when we took the first one that came in, we had to stay in an emergency, and we borrowed it. It had the disadvantage of being noisy and not having a parking lot. At the time it was possible again.
EDF hired me without formality on my return on September 1, 62, as an ex-EGA repatriated, and immediately made me follow the courses of the "Atomical Engineering" (the Institute of Nuclear Sciences and Techniques in Saclay year 62-63) to prepare me for conversion in nuclear energy. It was not very easy to start taking rather difficult scientific courses.
Frédéric was at school: from April 62 to June 62, Dampierre communal school, then in 1962-63: CE2 in Versailles, then from Oct 63 to February 64, CM1 in Versailles,
Christophe and Martin stayed at the house where Claude brought an au pair to help him.

Between October 63 and January 64, I am almost without clear assignment to EDF. In December a position of Chief of Planning at the new Chooz nuclear power plant (Ardennes) becomes available and I am assigned to it. on the 1st February 64.

Stay in Belgium - 1964- 67, 3 years 1/2

To stay in Belgium, the best way to find a villa was to find it in the village of Hastière-beyond, where the Ardennes are a tourist area and secondary residences for the Belgians. (Beyond the Meuse, there is a larger Hastière on the left bank, and beyond is on the right bank. The journey to Chooz was 20 minutes, including the border, with limited formalities.

Stay in Strasbourg - 1967-68, 1 year
On 1 July, we moved to Strasbourg, because I am Transferred from Production Equipment, to be responsible for representing EDF in the operation of the Chooz Centrale, provided by the Regional Group of Thermal Production East, of which I am appointed Chief Deputy. The plant is headed by a head of EDF and a Belgian assistant. Vice-Chairman of the SENA Technical Committee (The President is a Belgian engineer, Mr Louis), technical advisory body of the SENA Board of Directors and its Management Committee. I therefore attend each month in Brussels or Paris at the meetings of these 2 Councils formed by representatives of the French and Belgian shareholders of SENA.
We are moving into a 130 m2 apartment, bd from President EdwardsOn the edge of the large park of the Robertsau, which occupies the 4th floor with terrace and balconies of a small modern building. The assembler would get directly into the apartment, with a special key to access the 4th. It was small enough for us 6. Frédéric and Renaud each had a bedroom, Christophe and Martin shared a large bedroom that was both poorly separated in 2, because they were often as dog and cat. There was a dining room gand overlooking the terrace and a room for parents.
School year 67-68 :
Frédéric entered fourth grade at Kléber High School , Christophe in CM1, Martin in CE1 at Collège Saint EtienneA garage overlooking a courtyard had been transformed into a playroom for all, including Christophe's train which was very interesting to Renaud.
Frédéric went to Music ConservatoryHe started the guitar there, and his Alsatian comrades were all making music, often accordion.
Frédéric, Christophe and Martin have made the painting (see their works in the houses of Vierville).
Claude continued the graphology by correspondence.
We went very often on Sundays Walk in the Vosges, or skiing when snow allowed.
D ec 67, stay ski in the Vosges
We have been close to the Saillet family, an engineer of the Waters and Forests that we had known in Mostaganem. We also met a Mexican priest, Father Ledesma, came to Alsace for his training.

Stay in Fontenay-aux-Roses - 1968-73, 5 years
On 1 July 68, I am transferred again to the Equipment, to be responsible for representing EDF in the new Franco-Belge Nuclear Energy Company (SEMO) which is to build the thihange power plant, 870 MW, with equal share between EDF and the Belgian electricity producers unified in the Central and South Society.
I'm first, for the studies, SEPTEN (Service d'Etudes et Projets Thermoniques et Nuclaire) as Chief Adjunct, and then, on 1 January 1970, Director-Adjoint of the Nuclear Equipment Region "Clamart".
We settled in a large house with garden, in Fontenay-aux-Roses, 5 minutes drive from SEPTEN and CCR Clamart offices, and 5 minutes from Robinson station at the SNCF line of Sceaux. I remember that the rent was very high, although paid to the owner EDF and it had caused me some financial difficulties.
Children were enrolled in nearby schools: Frédéric in 3rd at the Lycée de Chatenay-Malabry, Christophe in CM2 and Martin in CE2 at the École Nouvelle d'Antony, where they were going by the train of the Sceaux line, with a change to Bourg-la-Reine. Renaud remained home except on Saturday morning where he often went to the kindergarten of the New School of Antony.
Claude continued his correspondence graphology courses and began to study the bamboo flute with a group from the New School.
The weekend, the children were Learn the veil at CVESQ (Club de Sail de l'Etang de St Quentin)Claude and I also learned to break up. 3 optimisations The project was undertaken with the help and advice of one of the instructors of the CVESQ, a brother of the Christian Schools (those who were also being sun-sucked by the "four arms brothers", because of their particular clothes). We had seen his work in a private vocational school in Igny. Then we started building a Fireball.
