1967- 68 - 69, Le Brûlat du Castellet
Normandy: Hélène Hausermann and Tutouni's death

61

For their retirement, my parents were built a house in the sun, at Brûlat du Castellet. They settled there with Bonne Maman in 1967. They will reside there from September to June, reserving summer at the Priory in St Laurent.

Letter from Simone Cordelle to Suzanne Rougier, 12 May 1967

The Burn
...our installation is still moving forward, I'm having trouble finishing the curtains, the garden and the pine forest would also need a lot of care, but everything will be done just by little.
Our house is very pleasant and convenient, people are very welcoming, and the small village is enough to ensure everyday life. The countryside is full of flowers, it's really the beautiful time, all this will be dry in July and will come back to life in autumn.
My mother-in-law is happy. (She lives at my parents' house in the Brûlat) And I've been back very well from his health accident, and for now I've had little Arnaud from Grenoble for about fifteen, to allow Christiane to follow Michel to Romania. That's to say I don't have a nose. So little that I only take back my letter today, Monday 15 , I couldn't finish it before!

We saw yesterday the François who were for 3 days in Valcros, François has quite often to come to Cadarache, and Nicole follows him easily, Jean and Laurent no longer pose problems.
My husband still takes care of some business, and seems to be doing very well at his leisure – and it's nice to have her husband all the time! He has a General Assembly in Marseilles on the 26th, and we think then to go back to Paris at the end of the month. My beautiful mother will be leaving Paris next Thursday by plane, she has a room in a convent in Auteuil, for 1 month, it is a very good retirement home, little, with charming nuns. Nicole will take care of her grandmother, and we will see how this organization works that would give us a little freedom. Not this time because we have Arnaud until 22 – I will not have much time to blow before closing the house!

We think about the beginning of June going to Hastière kissing the children, then we go to the Priory where I hope to see the Yves in July, maybe the kids during the move (to Strasbourg) ? You may have been able to tell us about their plans, dear Madam. We knew by them the great changes planned for the Bessons, I think this little stay in Holland will be pleasant and it must be a situation of interest for Michel Besson. The Hague must be a pretty city to live in, and Fanny must have found a French college there. But what a change for you that departure, dear Madam! Fortunately you and the Colonel are easily travelling, and it is not far from Paris.
I didn't know Madette's big health problem, I hope she got back to her home, without any bad follow-up, and she could take her place in the house where she was.
Are you still in Paris at the beginning of June, dear Madam? We would be happy to see you both again. Wish for a good trip to Tandrea, all the people I know who have been in Turkey have come back delighted....
