Letter from Claude (Fontenay aux Roses) to his parents (in Madeira) – February 1972
...I'm cured of my little misfortunes and everything is fine for me.
Tandree phoned this afternoon from "she" to tell me that she had returned (in ambulance) and that she was quite happy to be home... practically more fever and did not hurt the side. I'll probably go to her Sunday morning, because there is no traffic in the streets.
...I take my letter back today, we went to see Tandree who looked good but still keeps a little temperature (to say true she does not take d-antibiotic also this fever is all done normal).
This morning, there was a celebration at the new school – the 10th anniversary of its foundation – and it was very successful.
Frédéric was introduced by his physics teacher at the general competition and he is very happy because it seems an honor.
We're starting to talk again; soon the base of Saint Quentin will reopen its doors.
We're going to The Hague for the morning. I read a lot while I was sick, and I found it so nice and wonderful.
I'm sending my lette by plane, because yours aren't coming. Still nothing and I think it's very long...

.......How did your installation go in Dampierre? I'm sure you found all the splendors of spring... and may also be a lot of grass. I hope that the sun is there and that the gardening work makes you do a healthy sport that does not give you too much curvature.
Here it's fine. My cobblestone problems are getting tight. I saw a fellow member of Gillet who finds nothing extraordinary on the kidney radios, and I treat myself with homeopathy.
Tomorrow we'll celebrate four birthdays. The big show, Yves, Martin, Renaud and Frédéric. I'll make four cakes for this occasion, and my parents-in-law will be there.
Renaud will receive for his 7th birthday, age of reason, a superb office with many drawers (He's now in Antoine's room)- His dream.
All the kids are fine. Martin has a little rhinopharyngite, he's tired and starts making dozens of mistakesd-orthograph in his dictations, so he doesn't go to the pool anymore. Frédéric always jovial gets a little bit worried about where he'll be going next year (he will prepare Polytechnic at the Ste Geneviève School in Versailles, in boarding school)But it doesn't start his morale, he keeps doing boating with every day off and overruns himself quite softly. (preparing his terminal baccalaureate).
Renaud loses his teeth. He shakes them and rips them off himself to have the pleasure of finding money under his pillow. He went with his fortune to buy a water gun.
...Michel Maillet came to dinner with his wife at home, and it was a pleasure to reconnect with him.
My sister-in-law Nicole is really tired right now. (She is seriously ill with a brain tumor)....
