Letter from Claude to Grandma
of Jougne, 2 May 62
..here is our house.. and behind there are all the meadows and all the forests - the end of the world. Usually we take great walks in the morning without the children, and in the afternoon we go out the little ones. Then after tasting they are in the kindergarten while we rest. Today it is cold, it even snows. We made a little fire in a clearing so that the children were not cold. Thank you for calling me, my dear Mamie, to give me the good news of Yves. What a joy to think about his arrival.

Letter from Claude to his parents
The Sauze, December 1962, we were skiing in Sauze
We are delighted with the first two days. Of course, we have good snow - not much, but excellent. Frédéric makes me laugh because he skis like Yves - the same outfit - less naturally, but he is not afraid and he is very enthusiastic. Christophe, however, falls all the time and he has very bad morale, moves a step and steps backwards. They are snow gardeners who care for the children. But I think in a few days, Frédéric will be able to take the climb, he will be quite capable of taking true ski lessons.
The landscape is beautiful, and the tracks are very uncluttered, which is nice. We have a pretty comfortable room – after having been red-headed because we wanted to grant us a tiny room 4. And we do feasts. Christmas toys are very useful for the end of the afternoon.
I hope Frédéric gets a little bit more weight.
J-o forgets to tell you that this smart guy from Christophe lost himself at Lyon station. While Yves was buying cigarettes (somewhat not newspapers), he disappeared. A quarter of an hour later he was escorted by two friendly gentlemen after a call in the loudspeakers of the station. It is not happy to lose a child in such a fuss!
We were very moved to know that Martin had said "Mother forgot me". I hope you comforted him!...
