Strasbourg, around 30/8/67
We discover the Vosges, the children walk well and Renaud is very well used to community life. The first week of Strasbourg was the week of installation and tourism, and everything was beautiful and fun. (in fact the box-garage transformed) is a wonder, it seems, for the elderly (they set up the train there, it's also going to make Renaud happy to play there while the brothers are at school)And the Orangery full of seduction for Renaud...

Strasbourgon Monday, 4/9/67
...We were in a holiday village in the Vosges. We had a very nice weather. There was a nursery for babies where we put Renaud too, we were able to take very large walks. We took a very large walk on Thursday 14 km around the Firefield. We got a little lost, although the roads and the small paths are very well marked by distinctive signs that are reproduced on the map. With Papa we climbed on the Ungersberg which is a great top of 901 m at the top of which is built a tower partially destroyed by lightning.
We were in the country of pink sandstone and Martin took it for his collection of stones. On l'Ungersberg there are very beautiful granite with small red dots that are iron oxide.

Letter from Claude to his parents
Strasbourg, December 1967
.....Winter has been in the air for a few days and the Vosges are a splendor. Saturday and Sunday, we are ardent – 50 cm of snow at the Champ du Feu, a beautiful sun. This Sunday we arrived at 9 am to avoid the bump. It was –15°, as useless to say that Renaud had the red nose and frozen fingers. I warmed it up in a hotel as well as Martin while Yves and Frédéric were already skiing.
Yves and I bought some skis and Yves didn't seem to have a bad spine.
Here everything is fine, I can't find a proper dentist for Frédéric's device and it's boring...
Strasbourg, around mid-September 1967
We came back from the Vosges on Saturday. I was very happy with this stay where I got full of mountains. Every day with the 3 seniors we walked 2 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon – Renaud going to a very well organized daycare for all the little ones. He was very well suited to the community life and it was nice. There were many very competent child care workers and Renaud ss is well developed. But the most successful day was an 18 km walk without Renaud, of course, all day long. From the Col de la Charbonnière, we went through the Champ du Feu to Natzwiller and came back to the point of departure by another way. I was alone with my 3 boys and it makes me happy to see that Frédéric starts to have the passion of nature as his mother...

Strasbourg, autumn 67
On Sunday we go to the Vosges to sniff. Last Sunday at the Grand Ballon, where we wanted to do a recognition of winter sports. The blueberries have red leaves, there was a beautiful sun and a beautiful blue sky, already autumn tones. We did well...era a team of volunteers stays with Renaud while a 2nd team will get the car and come back to get the 1era This allows for long hikes for those who wish to. So Frédéric, Christophe, Renaud had stayed by a lake while Yves, me and Martin were riding through the stubble.
