Map and letter from Martin (to Nancy) to Granie and Tandree (to Dampierre)Monday, May 23, 83
Dear Granie, dear Tandree
So how are these ladies from Dampierre?I am writing to you from the Schlucht university chalet where we spent the weekend of Pentecost. Although the weather was frankly bad and I caught a nasty death we did a great walk from the Schlucht Pass to the Grand Ballon via the Markstein where we slept in a shelter.
The new neanceans are good, the few exams of late June arrive very soon, so I think I will see you in Dampierre only at the end of June before my workman's internship in July where I will work on "cores" to know the nature of the soils.
Otherwise my year, though still a little study has been frankly more relaxed than in previous years. J-en took as witnesses the week of February that I spent in the Vosges to cross-country skiing, or the Easter holidays where the ENSEM (National School of Electricity and Mechanical) had engaged a boat of 12 m 50 to participate in the cruise race of the EDHEC. This race that took place in Brest gathered 280 boats from 7m to 15 m long that were all barred by students of the Grandes Ecoles (either engineers or commercial). After the race we had a week of free time and the crew went down from Brest to the island of Yeu via Belle-Isle; the time of the 2ndnd We were brought back in superb shape to Nancy with memories and sun-filled mines.
I do flash passages in Tours from time to time, Mam has been much better for some time, but she still feels sensitive to the light. I was very sorry that I didn't see Tandree, at my last visit to Paris, it was actually Saturday, the day before you left for Dampierre, and there was no one at 17 rue de Sèvres. However, I took the time to go to the exhibition of the giant crystals of the Jardin des Plantes – it is funnyly nice and well presented, but it is not necessary to be claustrophobic, because the room is small, black and completely closed.
We have the International Theatre Festival in Nancy and I intend to enjoy it a little bit, there are a lot of foreign troops and I think it's worth it.
Meanwhile, you enjoy the garden, without too much hope to catch curvature to mow grass or weed strawberries.
For next year, I'm going to go into a flat with 2 friends to be more independent than this year, and I'm actively looking for a 3-4-piece next year.

-First of all, an increase in promotion from 70 to 90 students – engineers, it makes us a little bit angry because the premises are not infinitely stretchable.

- Finally, the new school principal gave to the future 2nd The whole week is completely free and we have to organise it completely. We can put everything we want, as long as the whole promo participates in this famous "free week". This takes us all in good shape; the two themes for this week are: - art and technique (especially the problem of computer-assisted drawing and music)
- exploitation of the oceans

For this we will bring exhibitions, speakers, but for now we send letters to make contacts.
Here, I think I have listed all the occupations and concerns I have in Nancy, I forgot to tell you that I made good friends and that in two words I find myself well occupied with my life in the Netherlands.
I'll kiss you and tell you by the end of June, Martin.
