1974-75 - Saint Avertin - Miscellaneous family visits

Letter from Claude to Granie, 25 October 1974

My dear Granie.
Have you heard from Madette? I'm going to write to her today. And how are you doing? It seems to me after all the little visits of the month – because of the apartment to rent -(this must be our new acquisition at 25 Montebello Street, an apartment we rented until 1984) How long ago we saw each other!

This Friday we went with Yves in Paris, you must know that I took the opportunity to see Vonnette – cheerful and in good shape – and Tandree. I even saw Germaine Geslot, still peaceful but aged.
In the evening we were at a wedding (one of the sons of Jean Guilhamon, one of the bosses of EGA and then of D-EDF, comrade X of François, known since Coutances in 39-40) And a nice reception at the Abbey of Royaumont. There was a wonderful banquet in the refined setting of the monks' refectory. We saw many people from the EDF and from Algeria.

Yesterday Sunday was our family party, that is to say, every year for my birthday, we go to the restaurant. This year we started with our 2 boys to visit the Clos Lucé where Leonardo da Vinci lived 3 years (in Amboise until his death) then we were enjoying at the restaurant, and we had a very fun evening with the family.
Apart from that we went the day before to the cinema to see "Face at Face" by Ingmar Bergman. As in his films, life is a drama for everyone. It's very fine but not cheerful... I don't advise you if you want to laugh a little bit.

I bought myself a dress that suits me well... and my warm coat purchased on sale at Franck and Sons for 12,000F – it's not expensive – is as comfortable as a bottle.
We ordered plantations (black pine trees from Austria) in our seafront. We broke our head well. I hope they will. (After 20 years the pine trees died but all the others thrived: cypresses, tamaris, poplars...)
I kiss you very much.
