Letter from Nicole Cordelle to Claude, after Grand-Père's death
Meudon, Thursday, 27 June
My dear Claude
Here you are, and your mother and all your family. Francis and I simply come to tell you our deep affection and the part we take to your sorrow. Our prayers and thoughts go to your father, ask the Lord to take him in his light and peace, and to your mother for whom this separation after more than fifty years of marriage is so cruel.
Francis joins me in lovingly kissing

We move on Tuesday and Wednesday, and take the road as soon as the truck is finished, Wednesday night I think. Our address in Marseille is 2 avenue Maurice Barrès 13008 Marseille. I don't have the phone number yet, and I'll give it to you as soon as I get it.

Letter from Father Le Thorel to Claude (Father Le Thorel has been our friend since he met Christophe by chance on a train around 1972. Father Le Thorel died in the 1990s. He was buried in the cemetery of priests in Grentheville Park. He had helped a lot during Claude's death in 1988 and later).
Maison du Sacré Coeur , Grentheville, 14540 Bourguébus
Grentheville, 14 October 1974
Madam

Here is a little late my answer to your very kind letter which m- found here, six kilometers from Caen, in the plain where it is impossible to compare with the bocage of the country of Coutances, but the heart no longer tired.
At the end of July, Bishop Bayeux expressed his desire to entrust me with the management of the old or sick priests' house. I did not hesitate to say yes and come to my diocese where I had not worked since my priestly ordination. I felt a little nostalgia for my native homeland. Providence signed. No longer my life as a hermit in my beautiful pavilion of the Park, and it is the fraternal life at the service of twenty priests. I hope you will come to visit it. Grentheville is a tiny town located after Mondeville on the right, back from the road of Lisieux-Paris, I mean the road from Caen to Lisieux-Paris. Very graceful estate with a real wood and pleasant lawns.
And your Touraine? J-heard the praise... because one of my nephews s-y is built a nice residence in Bourré near Montrichard. Saint-Avertin is in the direction!

I remember your kind passage from 1973, but with a real confusion. You were so thinly received! Your friendship resisted this "test" fortunately. I had returned from travel the day before or before the day and I had no provision or reservation! Yes, I remained confused.
On August 25, I went to the Holy Chapel to celebrate Saint Louis. I would have liked to have a guide of choice, but I was content with my thoughts and piety. I then went to see the museum of Cluny and admire the statues of Apostresjadis in this Holy Chapel and a delicious Saint Louis, wood of the 14th century.nd Century.
You are telling me about the whole family. I prayed and I will pray with you, thinking about your Father who entered the mysterious life of the beyond. Our missing are not absent. But with our parents it is our earthly roots that are cut off. As msa said three days ago one of my old priests to whom I made glimpse the approach of suffering and death after having given him the sacrament of the sick: "This is not a trial, it is a blessing." Everything is Grace, said Thérèse of Lisieux.
The evolution of the greats and the little ones continues ...I thought of Frédéric when Father Goube, new chaplain of the St Geneviève school (rue des Portes) preached an admirable retreat, at the end of August.
Our Christophe is still growing, but how will he decide? I have to talk about him to the Lord. And Martin... and Renaud, I think of them with all my heart!

Please assure Mr Cordelle of my feelings of friendship and believe in my sentiments of cordial respect.
Jean-Louis Le Thorelpr.
I'm sorry for the bad will of my pen.
