" Anecdotes, VILAR-VASSAL family:
Edouard VILAR, the first cousin of Marie VILAR, wife REIG, married Caroline REIG, sister of Pauline, who was her niece in the fashion of Brittany. He was a lawyer and was elected senator after a campaign financed by her father-in-law. He was a humanist who spoke Greek as Latin. His father was confessed, and when there was a fair, distributed pocket money to his children, and when that money was exhausted, he gave no more than after recitation of Latin verses!
Paul VILAR, Edward's brother, playing pool when he was 14, had the sheet of the said billiards, which his father had replaced, but with the holed sheet, he had his son cut a suit that he had to wear, as punishment!
When Lucie was a resident of Saint-Denis (at the Legion of Honor), Edouard VILAR, who was her godfather, came to see her and wore cakes. "

After the death of Henri Vilar
Some memories of Claude Rougier:
"The VILARs of Montesquieu (Eastern Pyrenees)
The VILARs were allied to the family, since Edouard VILAR married Caroline REIG, his cousin (and sister of Pauline REIG) in 1881. Their son Henri VILAR (1881-1969), married Laurence PRAT (or PIOT?)+1972, and he was my father's first cousin Maurice ROUGIER. Both cousins got along well and the families remained friends. Max, their only son, had a malformation of the palace, he married Jeanne PUECH.
Montesquieu was built in the previous century around land belonging to the family..., a modern winemaking facility is part of the property - as well as a small pavilion where Henri had a library and made music - he most often resided in the Prades
(where he knew Pablo CASALS well).
One of their sons, Paul (born 1945), on military service in Reims, came to Dampierre. He attended with Jeanne, his mother, at the wedding of Frédéric in Marseilles and we visited them with Granie in 1979. They turned the surroundings of their house into a camping site in the summer (San Christo camp in the city of Dampierre). Argeles)They were the only ones who stayed in Catalonia.
The eldest son, Charles (born 1938), married Janine VAYSSE (3 children) and resided in the Perpignan
(specializes in law). The youngest Jacques was born in 1950.

"Henri VILAR, after 1945, for political reasons, took refuge in Gerde (it was forbidden to stay in the Eastern Pyrenees) Bigorre bagners
- in the house left as an inheritance by Aunt Henriette, in disjunct between the 11 brothers and sisters REIG. This house was high perched, built on a very old building (there remained a tower debris and a wall).
It was a wonderful house where we spent a long summer holiday with Grandma ROUGIER, my aunts Lucie and Louise, my cousins Paulette, Jacqueline, and their families, at the time when the succession was not liquidated, and it was not without problems because one of the heirs lived in Spain."
