"My dear Dad
Françoise left yesterday at 8 am and here I am again as an old crouton behind my trunk. You think if we've papped and radoteed by reminding of the old memories.
The most fun ballad we've made is a great circuit that we've done on the bus, by the Tourmalet, Barèges, Luz and Lourdes.. we've come across charming and delicious people; another time we've been at the Col d'Aspin with English - the husband, wife and children and it has been fun to bring out some words I knew.
I don't remember all the details of the "Mans Sales," but I remember that as a play she had enthused me... obviously it came out a little skeptical.
It's a beautiful time again. I'll go back to history - I found only Michelet at the municipal library as a modern story! -

Letter written by Gerdes to Grand-Père, circa 1951
I got along very well with Paulette on our trip.

I'm kissing you, Claude.
Jean came yesterday and we took advantage of his car to make a trip to Lake Gaube. I found Cauterets charming and lively.

"Stop it, 28
My dear Tandree
Here I am in another world, another time, another space than Seals and I realize that I don't write to my old aunt. It's a shame, whatever it is, I will repair the evil and talk to her for a long time.
While you were visiting or rather were visiting the capital, we continued to explore the Pyrenees. Yesterday we went to a small lake, Lake Arise. Departure by coach, the big lady felt old and did not come. We made a good climb to climb up to 2000m in the midst of flocks of sheep who came to lick our hands, horses that were caracolous and cows that looked at us from the wrong side. So we went along a lovely little valley, picking "coprins" hairs - the best mushrooms would say to you, Mom - huge, majestic and swollen, which we filled with 2 bags and that we are drying.
After 3 hours of walking we arrived in front of a huge puddle of cold water, unfortunately the sun had the bad taste of disappearing behind clouds that were weighing up on us so that, frozen and slammed teeth, we left at triple gallop after having lunch. We took back our bicycles that we had made register in the village, and without a pedal stroke we arrived in Gerde.
After tomorrow we will go to the noon peak and then another day to Gavarnie. You see my dear Tandree that we do not leave our legs inactive. You tell me that the rays may not be in 1948? Here I am very worried. Have the great winter models come out and how are they? I thank you on the other hand for all the chores you have had the kindness to do.
Fanny's pushing me to Sciences Po, the best thing is I'm going to see Miss X daughter of Livragne's friend.
Jean Paulette's husband would advise me rather geography, he sees lots of opportunities (which he says) in geographical and linographic services
(?) economics, etc. After all, it would be less razor than going into the faculty. Anyway, I'll go back to St. Michel's.
Paulette is gone to Argueil, she is delighted and gets fattened by eyes. Aunt Lucia is always hard of hearing, she is very chatty and very cheerful, but she makes bile for a crushed fly. Grandma is sometimes desperate for this immobility in which she has been confined for more than a month and which seems not ready to end. The absence of movement gives her pain everywhere and she has lots of small misery. We always lift her from 4am to 6am by installing her in an armchair and I wonder if these even brief movements are well known for the re-collage of fractures.
Fanny always works like a zebra. We both fatten.. I'm even red. I don't know if this is a permanent sunburn! I grow up too, soon I'll be out of Dad's way.
Monday I'm going to get a movie that I gave to develop, I would have sent you multiple photos if the first film had been good: but the print revealed that no film was good. The film had to take the day when it was laid and rested at Seals.
I'll finish this chatter and go bathe. So I kiss you with all my heart dear Tandree and dear Good-Maman by telling you to soon Claude
PS We'll probably be back on the 20th.
