Marcel MAILLET 1904+1968

  494

       Memories of Marguerite Maillet:

"Marcel, born on 26 October 1901, studied successively in Reims, then in Clamecy in 1915, at the College of Epernay in 1916, then at the High School of Tours and finished his studies at the Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité"

A fanciful and enterprising debunker, he worked from 1934 until his retirement in a power company in Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Before that, he tried to raise chickens in Dampierre between 1930 and 1934, but without much success.

He was married to Fernande ROCHEREAU, about 1930, and had the pain of seeing her die quickly from tuberculosis. He remarried in 1934 to a Champenoise and they had a daughter, Colette MAILLET, born in 1935.
He died in October 1968 in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, where his wife survived him until about 1985.
Her daughter Colette did not marry and was a housekeeper in Agen, where she settled.

Several letters have been kept:
The 20 August 1916, to her sister Suzanne, a rather original and picturesque letter
Several letters from Marcel or Cécile during the war evoked the difficulties of refuelling:
Open interzone maps (readable freely by censorship) 19 Dec 41, 15 Nov. 42, 6 January 43.
Closed letters (since 11 Nov 42, the Germans had invaded the "free zone", and there was no longer a border dividing France into two: 29 Dec 42, 11 January 43, 17 October 43, 26 Dec 43.

Below are photos of Marcel at different times, see also the pages 4832 for the years 1900-1903, 4833 for the years 1904-1906, 4834 for the years 1907-10, 4835 for the years 1911-14
