Jean-Baptiste Adeline PERSON (an elder of Grannie) had a brother, Uncle Jean-Baptiste Eugène PERSON (1807-1890), who married Marie-Rosalie Appert (*25janv1816+16janv1873), the sister of General APPERT.
Claude's grandmother remembers:
"Another person who had a place in the family, it was Uncle PERSON who lived in
New He was born in 1807 and had his arm cut at the farm in Dampierre, where he lived with his parents, who had been a father to son for a long time. This operation was quite simple and he said that he had seen "saw his arm".
Hygiene care was rudimentary at that time but it was well found and lived happily what was its character.
He was a clerk of the notary in Auve and married the sister (who lived in St-Rémy on Bussy, near Auve)
General APPERT, who was only a captain at the time, died before my birth, but the general and his sons continued to come to Auve where we saw them a lot. The General was ambassador to Russia from 1882 to 1884, but he had remained simple and kind and came every time to Dampierre."

General Appert, brother-in-law of Jean-Baptiste Eugène Person. He often came to Auve. The picture dates from the time of his marriage in 1850, he was probably Captain.

Recently General Appert was commemorated in his original village. Above the local press reported, a large portrait of the General having been given by the Besson family. This portrait is a sepia photograph of an watercolor painted by Edouard Detaille and whose original is preserved in the Appert family.

Here is a newspaper article about Nicolas Appert, inventor of the process of preservation of foods called "appertization". Nicolas Appert was born in Chalons-en-Champagne, from a family native of Saint-Rémy on Bussy, as the family of General Appert.
There is probably a relationship between these two families, but 2 of the first 3 records of Catholicity in Saint-Rémy on Bussy are missing from the Archives. So far, the possible family ties have not been discovered.
