Resin plants of Mr. Person, owner of Auve

For about 35 years, Mr. Person, with energy and perseverance, has been able to gather 150 plots in one holding and a current area of 90 hectares.

This area is now completely planted in pine trees, black pines of Austria, laricias spruce, forming a real resinous forest with several portions already in the state of yield.

Some other plots near the ones described above are planted in alders, birch, elms and willows, and empty, giving a very abundant and in full relation.

All these different species of wood have extremely vigorous vegetation, there are no branches or dead woods and it has been found that these plantations are the object of the greatest care.
The majority of these lands were originally inequitable and were eliminated as a result of considerable earthworks.

The creation of this important property is a work of patience and perseverance and it took Mr. Person's indomitable energy to overcome all the obstacles he encountered.

The attempt made by Mr. Person, which has been perfectly successful, gives present and future generations the undeniable proof of what work and intelligence are all about.

This example is already being followed by other people on a smaller scale, so let us not hesitate to state without reservations that the Academic Society of the Marne cannot remain indifferent to these happy results and that it must encourage these kinds of work and especially the plantations of Mr. Person by granting him the highest reward which his program allows him to dispose of.

We do not hesitate to add that, if we so desire, the Society takes our conclusions into serious consideration, the reward which Mr. Person would be honored with will be received unanimously and most sympathetically by the entire population of Auve and the surrounding area.

The rapporteur Alfred Lequeux
