Mary Melanie DUPREZ She was the second of 10 children (4 brothers and 5 sisters), born in Champagnole on 14-8-1809. She always lived there. Tradition tells us that her father's ancestors had come from Savoie.
Married at 19 years of age with Ferdinand ROUGIER, stone tailor, they had 13 children from 1829 to 1855. Her picture represents her in rural clothes, about the age of 60.
His marriage contract, dated 14.01.1828, kept, specifies that his parents "give their daughter, the future wife, and in advance of their hoirie a basket of buffet beds, linens and herds for her use, with a flourer, all estimated 250 francs".
