Jean Cordelle, staying in Madrid exceptionally, at Jean Hausermann in Rosario, Brouillon de lettres

February 1942, (between 1 andir and probably the 16th)

My dear Jean,

Your telegram yesterday in Madrid tells me that John Paul's illness is going on. Needless to say, how happy we would be to know that the convalescence has begun. I think you are sending the White regular news, and I asked that they be immediately transmitted to us and the Saillard family. When this letter comes, it will not be a bad memory anymore, but when will we have your news written? ( ? boating line ??) no longer works, more than half of the letters are missing, put in the basket. Your last letter, if I'm not mistaken, is December 12th. (1941).

The last one I wrote was from the Christmas week we spent, Simone and I went to Toulon, going to Lyon. (passes interzones were therefore given for family reasons at that time)In Toulon, Michel smensed in the profession he chose, in an extremely friendly environment. We saw Germaine's whole family, so welcoming, and we found it in Excellent condition In Lyon François had scarletine since mid-December, it's now over, after spending a dozen days of convalescence at the Matuszek in Toulouse. We expect to see them both in Paris during the Easter holidays. (here again, the necessary).

The Chedals are fine, Georges has spent a half-day in Dakar (substituted for this trip to the free zone and then to Africa, probably by boat from Marseille, a discreet Vichy – Allies agreement authorized these links France – North Africa and West Africa via Gibraltar, to supply the free zone with colonial goods, the Germans also found their account) Jean-Pierre continued his studies at Centrale and Philippe was still in Vierville; in December he caught measles which was not at all appropriate for him; he still had a point of crying which he vigorously treated by rest. It took a long time before he was cleared of the aftermath of a pleurisy. Yves continued his class of 4nd without incident;

when to me it's the last time I'm in Madrid; a week or so in January when I asked for this transfer, and about 20 days ago(I remember Dad bringing us clothes that were not found in France, by the diplomatic suitcase). This is for the liquidation, if possible, of the work of Tenerife, a disaster because the Spanish law very strict does not foresee the variation of prices with the increase of materials and wages.
During my stay here, Simon had to go to Vierville for about 15 ( ? not legible)She'll find herself there for your dear mother's birthday. (on 17 February)Nothing new there, always good impression of the new guardhouse. We still have about ten horses in the stable and everything is very quiet.

………………………………………………………..

You wrote to us once we weren't informed. Be sure you're not more so. The TSF and the news agencies with which we manipulate the people are weapons of war. Both parties make the widest use of it, and lie with the same intensity, the USA newspapers and the BBC as well as the others. We have the advantage, if we can say, of hearing radio on both sides every day.(I remember hearing in Paris the English radio in spite of German interference and also the Swiss radio, the most interesting because trying to find the truth in the middle of Allied, Russian and German press releases perfectly contradictory) A simple statistic of the facts... (????)..... confirmed later, leaves no doubt about their .. (??... illegible).
