In France, 1930, death of Suzannette
624
Suzannette Dessus, sister of Jean Cordelle, had been waiting for her death for a few months, and she was being eaten by tuberculosis, a very contagious disease that could not be cured. Everyone was attacked by the microbe, but only the most resilient ones were healing. Death sometimes took decades to occur. Jean Cordelle's father died at 40 years of age in 1912. Suzannette's twin sister, Germaine died in 1904, at the age of two. Suzannette resisted until the age of 28, married to Tonton Gaby, a comrade of Dad.
Several exchanges of letters concern the succession, with the intention of all to favor his mother (Bonne-Maman, my grandmother), widow for 18 years, and limited resources.
