of 21 December 1904

4942

transcription: (1 franc of the time is worth about 20 francs from 1995)

                         "Paris on 21 December 1904
                Dear Mr. Hausermann,
We confirm the interview we had with you about the management of the work of the port of Dakar.
It is agreed that you will be assigned the direction of this work and that you will have to organize your service using the competition of Mr.Bénézeth who will replace you during your holidays in the general interest of the good operation of the site.
It is understood that you will take two months' leave each year in turn with Mr.Bénézeth during the bad season.
In these circumstances we believe that the construction site will be able to take on the activity necessary to fulfil the conditions of the contract.
You will be allocated 2,000F per month during your stay in Senegal and 1,000F per month during your holidays and the following premium:
a 7% (seven) increase on the amount of net profits earned as a bonus as and when the value of the equipment, cash advances and interest has been repaid.

If you would like to leave your service before the completion of the work, you will have to notify us four months in advance and your interest will be settled on the current situation according to our personal application.
In the event that you are forced to leave your service before completion of the work for a cause beyond your control, cause of health or prevent force majeure, you will be given at the end of the work or to your assignees a share of the agreed bonus in proportion to the time elapsed during your management without giving you or your assignees any control in our affairs on any grounds whatsoever.
On the other hand, if for an unforeseen reason we were to have to remove you from the work, we would count you for six months.
Please tell us, dear Mr. Hausermann, if we agree and agree with our best feelings.
                         Jean and Georges Hersent
